It is one of the healthiest (and most delicious) spices on the planet. The scientific name Zingiber officinale. The ginger root is what is used as a spice…. It contains what is called Gingerol, this is the substance that gives it its powerful medicinal Properties.
So when eaten in high doses GINGER offers impressive health benefits.
- It has Powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It’s the gingerols paradols, sesquiterpenes, shogaols, and zingerone, all of which have powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and the medicinal properties.
- Reducing inflammation – It has been shown to reduce inflammation like osteoarthritis (1) rheumatoid-arthritis, inflammatory gut disease, asthma, and certain cancers. Studies have shown that those who took ginger extract had less pain medication.Ginger extracts may help reduce inflammation, leading to less pain for osteoarthritis patients. A 2001 study published in “Arthritis and Rheumatism” found that patients with knee pain resulting from osteoarthritis experienced less pain after taking a ginger extract twice daily for six weeks.
- It soothes nausea and digestive issues – it has a long history of use as a motion sickness remedy, it may relieve nausea and vomiting after surgery But it may be the most effective when it comes to pregnancy-related nausea, such as morning sickness (2).
- It Can Help Fight Infections – Gingerol, the bioactive substance in fresh ginger, can help lower the risk of infections.
- It benefits immune health – chronic inflammation can harm your immune system, potentially increasing your chances of illness

So how do we HOW DO WE GET SO MUCH GINGER in – a versatile ingredient a powerful ingredient this is how you can do it!!!
Some easy concoctions:
- Ginger Shot – Some shots contain only fresh ginger juice, while others include lemon juice, orange juice, turmeric, cayenne pepper, and/or manuka honey. Anyone of these goes!
- Ginger /turmeric, carrot juice/ orange juice – whether cold pressed or in your processer this combination is a hit.
- Ginger infused Kefir or Kombucca – ginger is a common additive to infuse these pre and probiotic drinks. Add a little orange or lemon will make these drinks a daily enjoyment.
- Pickeled Ginger in a poke bowl – whether in sushi or in a poke bowl, pickled ginger is a must.
- Ginger in your Pho soup – a fan of this and many more broths. Enjoy a either fresh, dried or powdered ginger in any broths or soup for a really immune boosting hot broth.
